Chocolate Severed Heads

I had some fun molding some severed heads.  Halloween....how I love you. You can always make such cool treats during this holiday.  ;)

Peanut Butter Centers

1 cup creamy natural peanut butter
1/3 cup tub margarine
2 cups powdered sugar

Combine the peanut butter and the margarine in a bowl.  Heat in the microwave, stirring often, until the mixture is melted and smoothly combined.  Stir in powdered sugar.  You should have a nice firm dough.  Mold the mixture into any shape you want using different size balls, tubes, and ovals.  You don't have to dip your creations in chocolate.  They look fairly cute as is.

To dip in chocolate, take apart your creation setting the different pieces on waxed paper.  Chill for 30 minutes to an hour.  (You can use the freezer to speed this up.)  Melt 12oz milk chocolate chips with 2 tbls shortening in the microwave, stirring often to prevent over heating.  Your chocolate should be smooth and thinned.  Dip the peanut butter pieces in the chocolate and return to the waxed paper.  Chill until set.  Reassemble your piece, using some dabs of melted chocolate as glue to hold the pieces in place.  Chill until ready to nosh.

A few more pics....
A little bare peanut butter action.....they are just soooo cute.  Honestly this recipe would be super fun with children doing the molding.  ;)  One of the hardest parts of the process is not eating your material though...eheheh.

I put some melted chocolate in a ziplock with the corner cut off and added some small extra details to the severed heads.  Honestly I was happier with the plain version, but they didn't look too bad.
