Sesame Pralines
If it stood still in the kitchen I decided to praline it....eheheheh. Not a bad treat, but it does have a slightly bitter aftertaste. I think it needed a little bit of chopped dates mixed in. Overall a fun recipe to play around with.
Sesame Pralines
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup non fat evaporated milk
1/4 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup brown sesame seeds
Combine the sugars and the milk in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook until mixture reaches 236 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and sesame seeds. Continue to stir for another minute or two. Drop spoonfuls or simply pour out onto cookie sheet. Cool. Break apart pieces if you need to.

After visiting Savannah, GA I've been on a major praline kick - never tried it with sesame seeds though. Gonna have to change that =)

ReplyDeleteI would have never thought of making pralines with sesame seeds. It's a good thing the sugary coating balances the sesame's bitterness!
